I felt reassured by the way he explained the process and his honesty that once done there would still be considerable pain, so I knew exactly what to expect.

Mr Harley listened to my concerns about my hand and my Carpal Tunnel syndrome, with care and attention, making suggestions about what could be done. He clearly knew his subject area and was able to make me aware of my options and what to expect if I had an operation. I was pleased that he was realistic about what was possible and reassured me over my concerns. He has a professional manner and put me at my ease. The operation was quick and straightforward and my hand is healing well and I can do everything I could do before which had been one of my concerns. I am delighted that all the pain and numbness due to the Carpal Tunnel syndrome has completely gone. I can now sleep at night! Thank you!

My operation was carried out under a general anaesthetic to rectify Duputrens contracture and involved removal of hard tissue in the palm and in two fingers. Prior to the operation both my fingers permanently bent - almost at right angles and very inconvenient. Frequently this is done under a local anaesthetic but in my case the work needed was quite time consuming and hence the general. A year later following the procedure both fingers are now completely flexible and straight and I can play the guitar as normal. There is of course some damage to nerves which is unavoidable. This has resulted in areas of numbness which are slowly reducing and do not present a problem. In my case the result could not be better. I recovered quite well and did not need painkillers. I did take Arnica 2 weeks before and also after. I have had several ops and have found it reduces bruising and speeds recovery.
